Asthma

News

The HSE encourage all members of the Asthma Society of Ireland to get their annual influenza (flu) vaccine.

Flu is a serious disease and the best way to prevent it is by vaccination. Vaccination is strongly recommended every year for those over 65 years of age and adults and children over six months of age with moderate or severe asthma. Flu vaccination reduces infection and associated illnesses, hospitalisation and can even prevent deaths.

Visit your G.P to arrange vaccination as soon as possible. The best time to be vaccinated is in September or October. Remember the vaccine is free of charge if you have asthma. Family doctors my charge a consultation fee to patients not covered by medical card.

If you require further information please contact the National Immunisation Office at (01) 8676108 or visit the HSE website at www.immunisation.ie
