Martin
Comerford (born 9 November 1978) is an Irish sportsman.
He is a player on the Kilkenny senior hurling team, and
with the local O'Loughlin Gaels club in County Kilkenny.
Speaking on the Asthma Society of Ireland's "Reach
your Peak with Asthma"
DVD he said "I've had asthma for as long as I can
remember, since a very young child going into primary school."
As a top athlete, Mr Comerford has his asthma well controlled.
"The doctor with the kilkenny team keeps a close eye
on my asthma and he gives me a preventer inhaler which
I take every morning and evening and by using the preventer
inhaler it keeps my asthma under control I don't have to
use my reliever as often".
Comerford joined the county's senior hurling panel in
2001, serving as team captain in 2004. As a player at all
levels with Kilkenny he has won many honours in the game,
including 2 All-Ireland Senior Hurling medals, 5 Leinster
Senior Hurling medals, 4 National Hurling League medals,
1 All-Ireland U-21 medal and 2 All Star.
As successful hurling player Martin Comerford proves that
you can reach your peak with asthma and he lives his
"Life Without Limits". In his own words, "don't
let asthma prevent you from playing sport. There are top
athletes all around the world who have asthma and they
are getting on fine so there's no reason why any child
should let asthma prevent them from playing sport." |
