Life without limits - Kate Walsh, Cork

No Limits

Kate Walsh is an inspiration to Asthma Sufferers around the country. When Kate was born she was diagnosed at a very early age as a chronic asthmatic sufferer. Daily she has to use medication and a nebuliser in an effort to keep her condition under control.

Kate loved ponies and all she ever wanted was to own one of her own! So began her relationship with ponies and the pony club. Kate can be seen exercising her pony Princess over the winter evenings, wearing face masks and scarves over her mouth and nose to prevent the frozen air and dust form getting to hr lungs. Her friends give her the odd bit of help with grooming when the dust gets too much. But all in all, Kate's determination to ride has meant that despite the odds she has achieved something the doctors said could never be done. Her doctor will acknowledge that Kate has grown taller then was predicted and that her health is much better when she is riding than when she gives her pony a break! The moral of the story is... think positive and never give up... Kate didn't.
